Hi everyone, hope you are doing well. If you have been visiting me for a few years (thank you), you will remember that back in 2010 I started a Creative Colour Challenge, where we challenged ourselves with creating with a particular colour palette each month. The results were absolutely fabulous and at the end of 2013, I decided it was time for this particular challenge to come to a close. I originally started it to help myself and others explore colour and overcome any colour fear (I used to be scared of red!) and it was great to hear how it helped fuel creativity for so many.
SO! The good news is – I am so ready for a new challenge
I have been SO INCREDIBLY inspired by so much since I moved to Spain in 2013, that I would really love to create more using the beauty and inspiration we have here on the Costa del Sol. My goodness there is so much!
My word of the year is CONNECTION and I recently started a new initiative in my local area here in Spain called “Creative Costa” to connect all things creative on the Costa del Sol (listing classes, events and showcasing local artists). I put “Create local community” on my connection wish list for this year so it is very exciting to see this all unfold.
I also realised that the beauty and inspiration of where I live can be spread much wider. So after a long walk one morning on the beach, thinking about my word of the year, I decided it was time to start this new challenge and connect to a virtual community to share creations.
So here is my invitation to you, to come and join me for “Creative Costa Inspired”
I am also itching to build up a new body of artwork that has a particular meaning, a connection – to where I live now and thought what a perfect way to do so AND live my word of the year to connect with others. I really hope the “Creative Costa Inspired” group will inspire us all.
Would you like to join me?
Who can join in?
The challenge is open to everyone, whether you are a complete beginner right through to a professional artist. You can be at any level and located anywhere in the world.
To get started, come and join the community HERE
How it works
On the 1st of every month, I will post a new theme inspired by an image on the Costa del Sol. We start TOMORROW 1 May, 2014.
I will challenge myself to explore this theme through colour, different materials and invite you to join in! I will then post throughout the month on progress, inspiration and invite you to do the same.
This will really stretch us and encourage us to explore, create and be inspired. You may discover a new medium or material you would like to try, some inspiration for a current or new creative project or simply just want to be inspired and get to know other creatives in the group.
Then throughout the month, I will post my creations on our facebook group here and encourage you to post anything you are working on or being inspired by based on the theme. If by the end of the month, we have a lovely selection of creations from the group, I will showcase them on the Creative Costa blog, on a wrap up post here on louisegale.com and on my facebook pages.
If you are not on facebook, you can still join in! Just email me your artwork and I will include it in the wrap up gallery posts at the end of each month.
- Paint the colours from the theme (I will include a gorgeous colour palette you can work with)
- Collage the shapes
- Sketch the patterns or lines
- Photograph your own versions of the theme
- Bake or cook something inspired by the theme
- Sew, knit or crochet
- Write a poem
- Write a short story
- Compose a song
- So many possibilities!
Maybe you have a process you would like to share or a tip on using a particular material that we can all try out, or maybe you are a little nervous about creating and we as a group can help build your confidence and encourage you to share your new work in our safe supportive community.
You can join in anytime, the only rule is that you create and share your work or inspiration that is based on the current monthly theme, one that we have covered already or something creative that can help the group.
