These were the first to be finished in the new #mixedmediamandala series for the art show in Estepona in April. I love how these fit well together. They are both 12 x 12 inches square on stretched canvas and painted with acrylic, watercolor, pen, spray paint and there is also a little collage in there too. Here are a couple of images of a before and after.
This is just one of the Mixed Media Mandalas we will be covering in the class, so if you are interested in how to create luscious backgrounds, use color and draw out and build this kind of mandala, I would love for you to join me.
I loved painting this vibrant pink lotus flower inspired mandala. I love the shape and gracefulness of the lotus flower and have used it many times in my intuitive paintings. As I finished this mandala, I decided to add more of an orange glow and let some of the pink shine through.
Then the yellow and red mandala. This one started off as an old painting of a red lotus, which I transformed into a new mixed media mandala painting. It was quite red and orange to begin with but as I added yellow, it brightened up and brought out all the beautiful patterns up from the various layers underneath. I will be showing you this technique of using color to bring out the backgrounds in your work in my class here.
Would you would like to explore the sacred circle in many forms which include sacred geometry, nature and the universe?
If so, I hope you will join me to explore and discover your own mixed media mandalas in my new 4 week online class.
Not only will you have a journal full of inspirational drawings, studies and sketches, you will leave the class with your own mixed media mandala masterpiece to hang on the wall.
These mandalas are very beautiful, Louise! I hope you will be sharing photos of your show when it is hung!
