magnolia sketchbook page Louise Gale

There is something so wonderful about drawing in a sketchbook. I use my sketchbooks as a way to release a little creative energy without the pressure of creating a ‘perfect’ painting! It is also where I might create some studies and motif drawings for other projects I am working on.

My go to medium is watercolor at the moment and I have been loving my dip pen (ink) to create a little messy fun too.

Today, I would love to share with you a video of me creating the loose part of the magnolia page at the top of this post. This page shows both a loose/messy drawing on the left and also a more intricate watercolor drawing on the right. I love to combine the loose and tight drawings in my sketchbook and find it really helps me to flex my creative muscles!
