July & August is all about color so I thought I would give away 2 lovely prizes to lucky winners for this months First Friday:
1) “Color” by Victoria Finlay
I love this book and often flick through the pages to re-read stories and adventures about finding color around the world. Read more about this fab book here.

TO WIN: Simply leave a comment below sharing your favorite color, why it’s your favorite and what this color reminds you of. I will choose 2 winners and post your names on Wednesday’s blog post.
For my American friends, have a fabulous July 4th holiday weekend and all- pop back on Sunday for a special Independence day “Color Story”.
I love all colour, but I think I will choose aqua as my fave, combines the green of home and the blue of the sea that I need so much in my life!
Lynette, aqua is one of mine too. So fresh.
my favorite color changes…right now it’s turqoise. i love it in my jewelry, i love it in my paintings, i love it on furniture…everything. i reminds me of vintage (which i love), of the wild west, of the sunshine.
Gorgeous! My colors seem to change – usually depending on what time of year it is, or ho I’m feeling.
My favorite color is purple. Just about all shades of it. It makes me happy. I’m not afraid of it one bit. I even have a purple wall in my house. 🙂
So spiritual! and love that you have a purple wall in your house – that’s fabulous.
I haven’t had a favorite colour for many years, I love all colors for different reasons. I always say who would want a pink fire engine or a red Vagina? Ok if I have to give you a favorite colour for something I guess when I pait I love azure blue all blues really they make me feel peacefull. I guess because they remind me of the mother image. Like in history or art history The Virgin Mary has always been dressed or clothed in blues. I also have read if you dream of water you are missing your own mother. My mother has blue eyes an so do I so blue eyes are my favorite. I have three children never did get a girl but my last son was born with blue eyes at least. I love them all equally of coarse but I always tell my baby how much I looked forward to my blue eyed baby! Love your art, Sanna
Susan, lovely comments, thank you. I’ve not heard this water dream explanation, I have been told its about change coming (I used to dream of water alot!). I know that blue promotes peace, inspiration and devotion so this is very apt for your comments above too. xx
hi louise, thank you for the great giveaway! i would love to win this. my favorite color for about the last three years is orange, all flavors! i hated that color all my life. it was my mothers favorite color. she had orange curtains, orange bedspread, orange rugs, and probably if i would have stood still long enough, she would have painted me orange too! now i adore it. it reminds me of her sweet self, and she has been gone since 2001. thank you!! carlanda
I love how your color changed! Orange is a color that is becoming more favorable to me now too. I painted in orange recently and it made me feel so vibrant and alive. Love how orange also reminds you of your sweet mother. xx
Aquamarine blue has to be my favorite color. It reminds me of our vacation in Oho Rios, Jamaica and its amazing Caribbean Sea. It is so soothing and dreamy–it just relaxes me.
So relaxing and how lovely – Oho Rios in Jamaica, what a great way to remember the sea there. x
Hi Louise, thanks for the opportunity to win a place on your Color Course. I’d love a chance to join in! I think my favourite colour would be green, muted like sage. Green to me is a balancing colour, it’s calming and reminds me of nature and connection to the earth. My daughter loves the same shade. The Irish have shamrocks as lucky charms, and four leaf clovers are said to be lucky too. These are both green. I’m hoping green will be lucky for me too!
Have a great weekend and 4th July celebrations.
Green is so balancing and calming too. It is the color of balance, harmony and sympathy and is used in so many ways. Hope you are too having a lovely July 4th weekend. xx
Hi Louise – yes I WANT to win the class – for sure but more than that I NEED to win…I don’t know why but everything I do I seem to gravitate to white, cream, beige, all shades to brown and MAYBE green. Up until recently I was allergic to the color blue – couldn’t have blue anything in my house and never used it in art. I can wear it – but that’s it….recently I’m coming around to what it adds but color is hard for me and it doesn’t come natural for me to use bold or bright color – if any 😉 I’M READY TO PLAY – I want to win this so I can experiment and play with your guidance. Thanks, I’ll be waiting 😉
Hi Linda, cream and beige are lovely too as they can look so good with many other colors. I picked beige as my intuitive color (picked it out with my eyes closed) at a recent workshop with a deep red/pink color and they looked fabulous together. Many colors used to scare me a little, but I have found they can be amazing once you start to bring them into your life more. x
It’s so difficult to choose one colour. I LOVE colour, although I do have some strong preferences. I’ll have to say the “favourite of my favourites” is robin’s egg blue. I love its freshness, its calmness, and it reminds me of spring time. There’s something about it that says new life to me, but it also has a sentimental, nostalgic aspect to it, too.
Thanks for the opportunity to be the recipient of your generosity.
What a divine color! (i actually have a color story on this one next month!) So fresh and calm and yes absolutely nostalgic!
Hmmn…I LOVE Colour!!!..most colours…Colour is my passion.Colour excites me…I feel like a kid in a candy store when Im surrounded by colour…
I love groupings of colours…especially colour en masse,bright colours,soft colours…bead shops,art stores,bunches of crayons,papers,flowers,sunsets,fabrics…and on and on…
But my favourite…lets see….Limey/Khaki/chautruese green…. but especially teamed with Inky irisy deep(cobalt) blue and a cherry tomato orangey red!…
Thank you so much for the opportunity to be in to win 🙂
Oooh i love all of these color combo’s, so inspiring! maybe ill add to one of my weekly color stories inspired by Kristin. 🙂
My favorite color is yellow. So heartwarming, it can be bright and bold or subtely simple, by embracing yellow in my life and art, I’ve had more fun, love, laughter & adventures than I ever dreamed possible! Happy, happy, joy, joy!
Peace,
Donna
