In heaven, surrounded by new beginnings.
Little did I know when I sat in Stephanie Lee’ class that first morning, that my heart would be opened wide. Like I had come home.
That first morning, we were all like sponges, watching, listening and inspiration surrounding us.
It brought me back to my art school days of wire & wax scultpure.
Then another memory at university, when I made models and molds for my ceramics.
It brought me back, to realize how much I love this stuff!
After lunch when we were let loose to try everything out, It was like an overflow of ideas….my hands didn’t stop, one after another I made dishes, plaques, a boat bowl, inspiration tree.
A creative prayer had been answered, my calling, my medium, my friend. I tried everything Stephanie had shown us on that first morning and for the next 2 1/2 days I was in plaster bliss.
Here are just a few….
Plaster bowl with a leaf molding. *Love*
Quite simply, plaster, wax with engraving and raw umber paint
My “Boat” dish made from cardboard, plaster, wax + mark making.
Stephanie said this was her favorite.
I love how the plaster and wax look like a creamy marble.
A selection of my burlap & plaster pieces.
Of course! I just had to make a tree. An inspiration tree.
Made from carved foam, wire, plaster wrap and lots of love.
“Mediation Tree” plaque. Hand-made from cardboard, plaster wrap and acrylic paint.
Here’s a small selection together at the Show and Tell.
When I got home after An Artful Journey and a wonderful trip on the Big Sur, I jumped straight into finishing my new art series with some plaster and wax added! Some of my beloved plaster pieces are now hanging in my solo show for March in NYC. (more on my show soon)
Are there any new techniques or mediums you have fallen in love with lately?
