mixed media mandala showcase

Hi everyone, here is part 5 of the lovely showcase of work. Just a small selection that came out of the Mixed Media Mandala class I taught earlier in the year. If you missed the other parts, here they are: part 1 {sketching}, part 2 {paint play}, part 3 {more paint play} and part 4 {nature and collage}

This journey is a beautiful progression from mandala doodles and loosening up to exploring paint, collage/other materials and then onto the Mixed Media Mandala Masterpiece where students create a final piece of artwork to hang on their wall.

So part 5 showcases a few of the finished mandala paintings full of layers, depth and colour. Week 3 was all about creating the layered backgrounds, then students created a final painting on canvas or mixed media paper using their favourite techniques and types of mandalas from the first 2 weeks of class.  Some are still exploring and finishing up their lovely masterpieces so here are just a few that are finished.

Thanks again to all who took part. I am excited to see more of your artwork emerge as you continue on with the mandala making journey.

Corinna Maggy

I adore these layered mandalas from Corinna. Beautiful color palettes and such precision and detail in her mandala creations, adding a little silver and glimmer to her pieces. They feel so much like a silky luxurious fabric and would to see them out in the world being showcased. Beautiful Corinna!

Rosalina has such a distinctive gorgeous style, that she carried it through into all of her mandala creations. Abstracts, collage and her color palette brought all of Rosalina’s work into a whole collection she could exhibit. Wonderful!
